About

Shmita is an ancient concept rooted in the Hebrew Bible which speaks directly to many of today’s most difficult and pressing concerns, from the ecological crisis to social inequality.

My question is this: by encountering Shmita, by learning together and asking questions, and by seeking ways of embodying aspects of Shmita in our lives and in our communities, can we begin to see our way toward a future with greater harmony between human beings and the earth, and among one another?

This site is intended to educate, inform and inspire a community of Shmita seekers, in Seattle and beyond…

The Shmita year is almost upon us! It will begin on Rosh Hashanah 5782, which starts at sundown on Sept 6, 2021.

  1. I enjoyed your workshop at Limmud 2020 yesterday. I will share this information with our Social Justice committee at Bet Chaverim.

    Thank you,
